Betty Crocker's Cookbook for Boys and Girls: Facsimile Edition Review

Betty Crocker's Cookbook for Boys and Girls: Facsimile Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have several copies of the original Betty Crocker's Cookbook for Boys and Girls and have found deletions of some of the old recipes in the new reproduction. There is no Easy Orange Cake and Clear Orange Sauce in the new. I noted several other changes too! On p.62 in the old is the recipe for Chocolate Fudge Milk Shake and in the new is Cake and Frosting Mix.
I was very excited about hearing that they were going to reprint this recipe book as my original copy was completely falling apart. I had bought several on an auction site to hand down to my kids that were not in good shape. I was going to buy the new one until I went through it and found that it is a revised reproduction and not a genuine reproduction. I would have liked them to have revised it by giving the exact old recipes and writing what changes were to be made if items were no longer available.

Betty Crocker's classic cookbook for children is back-in an authentic reproduction of the original 1957 editionA whole generation of Baby Boomers grew up with Betty Crocker's Cookbook for Boys and Girls, and they have helped to make it the one of the most requested titles in the Betty Crocker archives. If you want bang for your buck, pick up Rachael's 365 book instead of this one. The recipes here are mostly found in that book as well. These recipes really aren't all that innovative, as far as kids recipes go (you already know how to cook hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches, right?), and the Rachael Ray 365 book has lots more information about altering recipes to suit your needs and other really helpful hints.

Teens Cook: How to Cook What You Want to Eat Review

Teens Cook: How to Cook What You Want to Eat

Great book for teens who don't know how to make anything and love to eat or teens who think they know how to make it all. The books s just as it's sub-title, "how to cook what you want to eat." It has great recipe alternatives to eating in instead of dining out--and learning something new while you're at it!
Receipes include sections of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, desserts. Most food that you go out to eat, you can find the receipe in here!

Written by two teens who know what teens do and don’t know about cooking, TEENS COOK is an instructional cookbook that teaches young adults how to make great meals-and be confident and independent in the kitchen. Authors Megan and Jill Carle are teenage sisters with nothing much in common when it comes to food-except that they both know how to cook really well. One buys ingredients she likes and figures out what to make when she gets home; the other follows every recipe to the letter. One is a vegetarian who’s drawn to ethnic food; the other prefers all-American comfort food. Together, they’re a dynamic duo who have created and mastered more than 75 recipes for breakfasts, snacks, sides, family meals, dinners for one, and desserts. In TEENS COOK, the Carle sisters also share their kitchen know-how on averting and fixing disasters, dealing with cookbook math (fractions and metrics-ugh!), deciphering culinary vocabulary (all those terms we kind of know, but not really), explaining chemistry (why and how stuff goes right and wrong in the kitchen), and avoiding accidents (can you say “grease fire”? oops!). For teens (and tweens) who are tired of eating what their parents decide to fix, TEENS COOK offers foolproof advice for whipping up some tasty home-cooked meals of their own.

Family Fun Cookbook: 250 Irresistible Recipes for You and Your Kids Review

Family Fun Cookbook: 250 Irresistible Recipes for You and Your Kids
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Originally I picked up this cookbook to cook with my young sons, but quickly realized that there were wonderful grown-up recipes available in this book too. Hardcover, with a binding that lies flat on the counter, this book offers colorful graphics and pictures of the majority of the recipes presented. It is arranged in the following categories: Getting Ready, Breakfast: Rise & Shine, Lunch Specials, After-School Snacks, Soup's On, Breads we Love, Dinner's Ready, Side Dishes & Salads, Can I have Dessert, and Home for the Holidays.
Some of my family's favorite dishes include: Banana Split Waffles, PB & J Surprise Muffins, Strawberry Butter, Hummus, Falafel Flying Saucers, Nuke-able Nachos, Sneak-It-to-Em Broccoli Soup, Potato Chip Chicken Fingers, Baked Sweet Potatoes with Orange Sauce, Rock Candy, Leaning Tower of Oreos, Blueberry Fool, and Red, White, & Blueberry Freeze Pops. Also nicely included are some recipes for Play Doughs, with ideas on how to even make your own scented dough!
This was an excellent addition to my cookbook collection and my family has fun selecting and trying new recipes out of this extensive cookbook. If you want to teach your kids to cook, or want to find recipes sure to please even the finicky eater, then you should try this cookbook. Enjoy!

The Cleaner Plate Club: Raising Healthy Eaters One Meal at a Time Review

The Cleaner Plate Club: Raising Healthy Eaters One Meal at a Time
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have not written a review before but I just cleaned the dishes and I wanted to brag, because my kids ate my cooking. I am not a confident cook. I get overwhelmed by dinner time, I have such guilt that I am just scared to cook, even for my children. The Cleaner Plate Club is probably my 6th kid-oriented cook book. Anyway, I was drawn to it by the title, the colors, the easy to follow sections. Even so, I can let a book sit on my shelf for months before I try anything, but this time, I just hunkered down and made a meatloaf! I was surprised by what a difference their attitude made. I found it less scary to try the meatloaf because they have a way of letting you screw up and still feel like you are doing it right(?) seriously. I feel very grateful for this book. It is really disarming and fun. I think these women speak to me, not down to me, and my very chaotic life. The food is interesting, simple, so far very tasty and dare I say forgiving? I recommend this to anyone who is a working mom, like me, and looking for a more contemporary and real approach to cooking.

Cooking Up a Storm: The Teen Survival Cookbook Review

Cooking Up a Storm: The Teen Survival Cookbook
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Cooking up a storm is a great cook book for kids of all ages. I have 3 kids ages 7, 11 and 16 and each one of them has enjoyed using this book to make some Fab food. Before this book they would get bored if they tried to use a cook book but with the pictures, explanations and real funny captions they were glued to it. Not only that but it has everything you could want to cook in it so its even useful for us adults. Anything that will get my kids in the kitchen making real food deserves some credit. I would definitely reccomend it!!
