I got this book as a gift. I was disappointed to see that many of the recipes are not gluten free, but instead there is a blurb on the bottom of the page that tells you how to make it gluten free. I expected all of the recipes to be dairy free, wheat free, and gluten free but they weren't.

Wheat-Free, Gluten-Free Cookbook for Kids and Busy Adults Review

Wheat-Free, Gluten-Free Cookbook for Kids and Busy Adults

Being new to the gluten-free diet I have been very disappointed in the majority of the GF cookbooks. The ingredients are often a challenge to find, are expensive, and frankly just taste gross or have a funky texture. The more ingredients that are different from what we "used to eat" the more disappointing the outcome. Of all the cookbooks I've tried so far (8 of the "mainstream" ones) this one has the most familiar ingredients and "normal" foods. My 5 year old has enjoyed everything I have made from this book so far and has been excited to eat something GF that actually tastes like what he used to eat. The recipes are simple, fast, affordable, and best of all we actually enjoy food again! THANK YOU CONNIE SARROS!

Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Kid Pleasing Recipes & Tips Review

Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Kid Pleasing Recipes and Tips

My 3-year-old daughter is severely allergic to eggs, milk, and nuts, so this cookbook was right up our alley. Now that I have been using it for a while, I can honestly say that it has been an absolute lifesaver for us. My husband says the author must have some sort of "voodoo magic" to make so many things taste so good. We also cannot believe how she has have managed to make things like scalloped potatoes dairy-free and still have them taste JUST LIKE regular scalloped potatoes. I recently used the cream of mushroom soup recipe in the cookbook to make a green bean casserole that tastes just like the real thing. We love the recipes in the book so much that I have been freezing a lot of the meals because we're expecting a new baby in March and I'm trying to stock up on dinners for right after the birth. If your child has allergies to milk, egg, and/or nuts, you HAVE to have this cookbook.

Allergy-Free Desserts: Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Egg-free,Soy-free and Nut-free Delights Review

Allergy-Free Desserts: Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Egg-free,Soy-free and Nut-free Delights
Average Reviews:

My Book just arrived, and I was SO tired of seeing my friends devour sugar over the holidays...I couldn't wait to try something that would not trigger all of my allergies...yet be delicious.
I'd tried some of the author's allergen free cookies, found them far superior to similar products on the market...so why not try to learn to make such desserts myself?
Too many dinner parties of making a scrumptious dessert, only to watch in envy as it was devoured by friends...while I suffered in silence, unable to consume the dreaded egg, sugar, wheat trifecta of doom.
First of all, the book looks great...wonderful photos of mouth watering, allergen free cakes, cookies, and other treats. For my first experiment, I zeroed in on a long time favorite...vanilla cake. Directions were clear, recipe simple to follow...and it wasn't long before I stared at my reward for a holiday of dairy abstinence. I'm embarrassed to say that I devoured most of the cake before I could share it with my egg and wheat eating brethren. Unlike many of these 'healthy' desserts, it was delicious...moist, and a rich and creamy frosting. None of that disappointing aftertaste. (like you get with carob...I hate carob. I loathe carob)
I'm really happy with the book, and what I've sampled so far. Looking forward to dinner parties at which I don't have to sip green tea, clutching the saucer in resentment as I watch others down their sweet treats. The book is really wonderful, and I highly recommend it for its layout, photos, and most of all...delicious, easy to follow, recipes.

What Else is to Eat? The Dairy-, Egg-, and Nut-Free Food Allergy Cookbook Review

What Else is to Eat The Dairy-, Egg-, and Nut-Free Food Allergy Cookbook
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I already own a well-worn copy of Linda Coss's first cookbook "What's to Eat?", so I eagerly anticipated her newest selection of recipes. I wasn't disappointed. Many people are amazed that I cook and bake such GOOD food without dairy, eggs or nuts. I credit Linda for creating many of our favorites.
Here's a scrumptious sample of what we've been eating this week from "What Else is to Eat?":
Iced Honey Cookies (page 126)- we took these to a friend's house for dinner. They were a huge hit...easy to make and yummy to eat!
Spaghetti and Meatball Soup (page 26)- "This is really good, Mom!" was all I needed to hear.
Slow Cooker Beef With Rosemary and Potatoes (page 37)- Crockpots make life a bit easier, don't they? In just a few minutes I had everything in the slow cooker and voila', eight hours later, a delicious meal. Next time I'll chop the rosemary finely as my children picked off the "green pieces".
Linda's Signature Grilled Chicken (page 49)- Just four ingredients in a zip-top bag, with some chicken. I didn't grill, though, as our high temperature was 38 degrees that day, but it worked fine in the oven.
Disappearing Chocolate Oatmeal Delights (page 124)- these really did disappear in our house!
Coss's first recipe book ("What's to Eat?") is perfect for those who need basic food allergy recipes for items like pancakes, waffles, chocolate chip cookies and plain white cake. I find Linda's second book, "What Else is to Eat?", ideal for those of us who have the essentials, but are now hungry for the next level. Get them both and amaze your family and friends with delicious dishes.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gluten-Free Eating Review

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gluten-Free Eating
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gluten Free Eating is a very comprehensive resource for newly diagnosed celiacs. The beginning chapters discuss why celiacs cannot eat gluten and the diagnosis process without getting too technical or overwhelming the reader with obscure medical tidbits. The next chapter explains which foods are safe and not safe to eat and explains how to decipher food labels and eliminate potentially harmful ingredients. There are also alphabetized lists of foods that are safe and not safe to eat. I consider all of these lists as part of a gluten free encyclopedia, which is pretty neat and very useful. I find it so easy to just look up any food I'm unsure of here. And even though the unsafe food lists look long and scary, this book does a great job at reassuring celiacs that their lives as they know them are not over. There is even an entire chapter devoted to building the self-esteems of celiacs and dealing with family and friends who just don't seem to understand the gluten free diet.
The book also recommends gluten free packaged products that are favorites of celiacs everywhere. There is also an entire chapter devoted to the ins and outs of gluten free alcohol. There are also recipes for cookies, pancakes, breads, pasta dishes and an all purpose baking mix. The authors even map out a gluten free meal plan for an entire week that's full of healthy, low fat foods and has substitutions for vegetarians. The book ends with a crash course on eating out, taking out and staying healthy on the gluten free diet. Overall this book is very helpful to newly diagnosed celiacs and their families. It's very easy to follow and written in fun, simple English. It's also sprinkled with "Good for You" tips by Tricia Thompson and cute anecdotes from the "Fearless Eater". This book is even great for celiacs who need a confidence boost or people looking for more diet options and recipes.

Gluten, be gone! Gluten intolerance affects almost three million Americans with painful and frustrating symptoms. Although testing for it is fairly simple, it can be difficult to diagnose—and the only treatment is a strict gluten-free diet for life. Armed with this book, post-diagnosis readers can meet the challenge. It contains lists of "legal" and "illegal" foods, food substitutions, a lesson in how to find gluten in food labels and keep flavor in gluten-free meals, and a section on dieting.

One-Dish Vegetarian Meals Review

One-Dish Vegetarian Meals
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this cookbook partly anticipating new and exciting recipes, partly anticipating it would join the other 40 cookbooks in my cupboard (covered in dust). What a fabulous surprise! So far, I haven't made anything I didn't like. The recipes are not too labor intensive, the ingredients are found at the local store - occasionally require a trip to Central Market.
As I get older, it is SO much easier to make one dish meals; less to clean up, less prep time. Experimenting with recipes from around the world spices things up as well- literally and figuratively. I highly recommend this title.
By the way, did I mention I don't like to cook?
