Betty Crocker's Quick & Easy Cookbook Review

Betty Crocker's Quick and Easy Cookbook

This book has some really good, quick & easy recipes. I bought this book since I don't have a lot of time to do cooking when I get home from work & it's given me some really good meals. The meals are so easy to make, most only have about 6 or less ingredients. My mother saw my book, liked the recipes so I bought a copy for her. My husband has made several recipes as well. He was impressed that the prep & cook time actually took 30 minutes or less & recipes are so easy!
A lot of the new recipe books contain funky recipes, but I loved this one because I would actually eat any in this book. Among some tasty recipes are Chicken Marsala, Thai Chicken Wraps, Skillet Chicken Parmigiana, One pot potatoes & chicken, Sloppy Joe rotini, Parmesan-Dijon Chicken, Five-layer mexican dip, Fiesta taco salad, Stove top lasagna, Southwest cheese and pasta, stuffed french toast, among many many others.
The neat thing about this book is that in the beginning of each section, it gives you some quick 1-Step ideas (for example - Poultry, it gives one step seasoning ideas such as italian seasoning, mesquite, cajun seasoning, etc.) that don't require an actual recipe.
Although this has many common meal ideas, many have a little twist that most of us wouldn't think of. The recipes are really quick & easy & delicious!

Betty Crocker Complete Thanksgiving Cookbook: All You Need to Cook a Foolproof Dinner Review

Betty Crocker Complete Thanksgiving Cookbook: All You Need to Cook a Foolproof Dinner

The trouble with a lot of Thanksgiving cookbooks is that they throw so many new and quite exotic dishes at the reader. I think most people still prefer their Thanksgiving with all of the traditional dishes.
Betty Crocker's book does just that while still giving you some new things to try, without making them too intimidating for the novice cook. Add to that the best sections of the book may be the sections on planning your dinner from shopping to all the make-aheads to getting the turkey ready for the oven.
You'll find all of the great traditional fare in this book with straight forward and easy to follow recipes no matter what the size of your gathering.
If your a traditionalist like me, then this is the book for you.

Southern Living Christmas Cookbook: All-New Ultimate Holiday Entertaining Guide Review

Southern Living Christmas Cookbook: All-New Ultimate Holiday Entertaining Guide

I purchased this book and planned a week's worth of menus for Christmas company around these menus. Fortunately, for me and my guests -- they were detained because of snow, and my husband and I were the only ones to eat the food. I made eight recipes -- cookies, pie, bread, salads, salad dressing -- food one should not be able to mess up. Without exception, the cooking times were way off (not just oven variances), the ingredients did not blend well, and the cookies, pie, and bread were bland or the textures not pleasant. Did the authors actually test these recipes? I'm not sure. Buy another book; this one was pretty but totally unmemorable.

The Bride and Groom's First Cookbook Review

The Bride and Groom's First Cookbook

This is one of the best cookbooks we received when we got married. The recipies are grouped together in menus that work for different occasions. The brownie recipe makes the most decadent brownies we have ever tasted. Would recommend this to anyone who needs a starter cookbook with more original dishes than a basic cookbook!
